Fly Fishing Lakes Class 2015 - Portland Area Fly Fishing!


Learn what it takes to catch trout in lakes with this one day well rounded, 8 hour, fly fishing school brought to you by Water Time Outfitters and Royal Treatment Fly shop.  Get started in fly fishing the right way and learn from our pro’s.  Our first segment of the class is held in the classroom at Royal Treatment Fly shop in West Linn, OR.  From there we go get a line wet on a private lake with healthy  populations of Rainbow trout.  Get started fly fishing the right way or just advance your skills on some trophy trout waters.   Come join the fun!

Beginning Fly Fishing Class - Deschutes River Oregon



Start your fly fishing right with good fundamentals and fun!  This introduction to fly fishing on the famous Deschutes River is a great course for the beginner, a gift, or fun for the whole family.  This special class is taught by pro guide and magazine editor Rob Crandall. 

This two part class first covers the basics in the classroom at Royal Treatment Fly shop. The second session is on the Deschutes River near Maupin.  The Deschutes is Oregon’s premier blue ribbon trout river.  Here we cover how to rig, fly casting lesson, on water bug study-what do fish eat, fly fishing techniques and on water fishing for trout.  A get started class information packet is included.

This class covers: Fly fishing terminology, Fly fishing knots, Proper rigging, Equipment,

Fly selection, Fly casting, Entomology, and On Water Fishing instruction.  For this 8 hour course rods and reels are provided if needed or bring your own.  Bring your waders, boots, fishing license, polarized glasses, lucky fishing hat and lunch.

Lake Fly Fishing Class- May 2013


Want to get started fly fishing lakes or just learn to fly fish?  This is a great class to get going and learn in a fun and informative atmosphere.  This is a two part class that gives you the tools you need to get a good start on fly fishing lakes.

Part 1 is held at a fly shop classroom covering the basics.  Knot tying, rigging, fly selection, lake discussion and gear are covered here.  2 hour session.

Part 2 is held on a private ranch near Tyghe Valley, OR. (approximately 1:45 minutes from Portland). These fertile lakes host an excellent population of rainbow trout.  Food sources are prolific and range from midges, callibaetis, damsel and leeches. Trout are often caught up to 16-18" with some up to 10lbs in these lakes.  Here we cover fly casting starting with square one or building on your current skills.  We cover fishing techniques and strategies, provide a hot lunch and spend the day on the water.

Steelhead Boot Camp Success!



Our annual Steelhead Boot Camp was a success this September.  Our group of  anglers from all over the NW did well learning the ropes of steelhead fly fishing.  We covered spey casting, fishing stategies, reading water, fly selection, knot tying, rigging, approaching the run and much more.  All in all we had a great time and learned why we say the "tug is the drug".   If you to learn the "why" of what we do to catch steelhead enroll in the Steelhead Boot Camp with Water Time Outfitters.  We offer both summer and winter steelhead classes.  Find more info at: www.watertimeoutfitters.com

Deschutes River Steelhead "Boot Camp" September 2012

This course is the “Boot Camp” of Steelhead fly fishing. Get started fly fishing for steelhead on one of the best rivers in the country! The Deschutes River is famous for quality steelhead fishing and this course is timed for prime time fishing. Learn fly casting, techniques, tricks, fly selection, reading water, fly tying and much more.



This fishing adventure covers it all. Rods, reels and lines are available for you. We’ll have over 20 fly lines for you to fine tune your set up or use ours! Family style meals are prepared in our full camp kitchen-you won’t leave hungry. All meals supplied starting with lunch day 1 through lunch the last day. Comfortable camps are set right on good steelhead water. Large 14'x 14" canvas tents with ample height to easily stand are fitted with the most comfortable cots and river pads available.
